Assistant Conductor
Jordan Brooks is an orchestral and operatic conductor currently based in Columbia, South Carolina. He is currently the Assistant Conductor for the Aiken Symphony, Assistant Conductor for the University of South Carolina Symphony Orchestra, as well as Conductor of the university’s Campus Orchestra. At the University of South Carolina, Jordan studies with Dr. Scott Weiss and holds a Graduate Assistantship with the orchestra. Previously, he was the Assistant Conductor of the University of Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra, cover conductor for the Delaware County Symphony and the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County Philharmonia, and Conductor in Residence with the Center City Chamber Orchestra.
Also active as an operatic conductor, Jordan serves as a Conductor with Opera at USC. He was music director and conductor for Opera at USC’s production of She Loves Me and was assistant conductor for their production of Le Nozze di Figaro. He made his international conducting debut in Berlin, Germany as an Assistant Conductor at the Berlin Opera Academy and has also been a student at Miami Music Festival’s Opera Conducting Bootcamp. Previous summer studies include Mostly Modern Festival and Conductors Retreat at Medomak. Jordan counts among his conducting teachers and mentors Scott Weiss, Kensho Watanabe, Thomas Hong, Andreas Delfs, and Kenneth Kiesler.
Jordan graduated from Temple University in 2021 where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance. He studied cello with John Koen of the Philadelphia Orchestra and has also worked with other members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and high profile musicians in the area. At Temple, he was principal cello with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra and was involved in dozens of world premiers with local composers. He was also the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Temple University Repertory Orchestra.
Assistant Conductor
Edvan Rodrigues Moraes worked as the Chorus Master at the Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro from 2023 to 2024. From 2018 to 2019, he worked as assistant conductor of Cesgranrio Symphonic Orchestra, at Rio de Janeiro. He worked as a pianist and off-stage conductor for choir and instrument groups at Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro's opera productions.
Moraes conducted several operas and musical theater, among them, La belle lisse poire du Prince de Motordu, by Jean-Luc Michel, Così fan tutte by Mozart, O Caixeiro da Taverna, by Guilherme Bernstein, La serva e l’ussero, by Luigi Ricci, Les Misérables, by Claude-Michel Schönberg, and Peter Pan, a Broadway Musical, by J. M. Barrie.
Between 2014 and 2015, he worked as musical director and conductor of Ação Social pela Música do Brasil (a music program that teaches orchestral instruments at Rio de Janeiro's favelas), and conducted Young Orchestras at Candelária Church, Municipal Theatre of Rio de Janeiro, and at CCBB-RJ, among other places.
Moraes received his master's degree from Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) and his bachelor's degree in Orchestral Conducting from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he took lessons with Ernani Aguiar and Tobias Volkmann. At Os Seminários de Música Pro-Arte, he studied choir conducting with Carlos Alberto Figueiredo, and attended master classes with maestros Martin Schmidt, Marin Alsop, Isaac Karabtchevsky, Catherine Larsen-Maguire, and Rodolfo Fischer.
In 2022, he joined the Opera Workshop organized by the Jette Parker Young Artists Program of the Royal Opera House, in Uruguay, where he studied with David Gowland and Satoshi Kubo.
Edvan Moraes is pursuing his DMA in Orchestral Conducting advised by Dr. Scott Weiss.
